This car located in a shed less than two miles from the Dayton Wire Wheel World Headquarters. The vehicle was originally delivered in Cincinnati, Ohio and included the rare dealer installed second windshield. Some time in the 1950’s the car’s body was sectioned approx 4 inches in an effort to create a custom rod, but alas, the project was never finished.

The car was purchased by Dayton Based collector and car dealer, Jim Walker and then later traded for some parts to another local collector by the name of Dave Oakes. Dave already had plenty of projects, so the car sat in a shed on his property for the next 15 years.

Dave Oakes’ abandoned 1937 Ford Phaeton project was a good choice; it was close, it was inexpensive and most of the parts were still resting in the shed.

After literally dragging the car out into the daylight, the boys realized the magnitude of the project that they had just signed up to complete. This car was going to need new everything! Most of the pieces were found by digging around in the dirt of Dave’s shed. In a few short hours, the whole “Dirty” mess was loaded up on a trailer and driven back to the plant for a complete inventory.
